Nova Health Naturopathic Centre
What is a Naturopath?
Since moving to Kingston, Dr. Kimberley Oxbro has been helping patients and residents better understand the body and its ability to heal. At Nova Health Naturopathic Centre’s recent one year anniversary open house, she and her staff took blood pressure readings, gave health assessments and showed off their many treatment options. The infrared sauna is one popular option, although there are many other alternative treatments available. For some patients, the idea of visiting a naturopath may be new.
Naturopaths treat virtually any condition or disease. They can treat any age patient, from pediatric to geriatric. Nova Health, for example, provides primary care including full physical examinations, on-site blood work and weight loss programs among others. However, a naturopath does things a little differently than a typical clinic.
Treatments integrate the efforts of the spirit, mind, and body to promote health and create healing. Naturopaths may prescribe natural treatments to help the body regain health. They seek first to understand why the body is not functioning in an optimal manner. Then they use the science of nature to create an individual treatment plan for each patient.
Some of the treatment modalities that a naturopath may prescribe could include the following:
- Nutrition
- Lifestyle counseling
- Botanical medicine
- Acupuncture
- IV Therapy
- Physical medicine
By balancing the needs of the spirit, mind, and body, a naturopath can help patients attain optimal health.
